The Waste Reduction and Recycling Program is a community-based initiative aimed at promoting sustainable waste management practices in Matina, Limón, Costa Rica.
The project seeks to reduce waste generation, increasing recycling and raising awareness about the environmental and health impacts of pesticide use in local pineapple plantations (piñeras).

Our Mission was made to encourage waste reduction, promote recycling and raise awareness about the risks of pesticide use in pineapple plantations, fostering a culture of environmental responsibility and sustainability in Matina.

The Waste Reduction and Recycling Program envisions a future where Matina, Limón, is a model of sustainability and environmental stewardship. Through community-driven efforts, we aim to create a cleaner, healthier, and more resilient environment where waste is minimized, resources are reused, and the harmful impacts of pesticide use are mitigated.
